We are seeking an exceptional Chair to lead this Land into its next phase of growth and development. Following a significant transformation programme and a strategic direction review by our Shareholder, this is a pivotal moment to shape the future of our company.

The Chair will provide leadership to the Board, ensuring effective governance and strategic oversight. The role requires working closely with the CEO and Senior Management Team to drive the delivery of our business plan while ensuring accountability and transparency with our Shareholder.

The Chair will be responsible for leading the Board and ensuring its effectiveness in setting and implementing strategic direction. They will oversee good governance and adherence to policies and procedures while holding the CEO to account and ensuring effective performance management. They will provide strategic oversight of the business plan, monitor progress and ensure key targets are met. The role involves promoting a culture of openness, debate and collaborative working. Additionally, the Chair will act as an external ambassador, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders and ensuring the Board has the right skills, structure and balance of expertise. They will also maintain effective communication with the Shareholder, ensuring clarity and transparency in reporting. The role requires an estimated commitment of three to four days per month, with flexibility depending on business needs.


We are looking for an experienced and highly skilled leader with a strong track record in governance, strategic leadership and stakeholder engagement. Ideally, you will have a background in real estate development, particularly in the residential sector, experience of working at board level within a local authority-owned company.

You will be a visible and influential leader, capable of building consensus and driving high-level strategic decision-making. Your ability to operate in complex stakeholder environments, navigate risk and ensure robust corporate governance will be key to success in this role.

We are seeking someone with a well-established leadership profile and a proven ability to articulate and deliver strategic vision. Strong governance and risk management experience is essential, along with excellent interpersonal and communication skills to engage with a diverse range of stakeholders. Sound judgement, analytical thinking and the ability to make complex decisions based on evidence are crucial. The ideal candidate will have a track record of fostering successful collaborative relationships across public and private sectors and experience chairing meetings, ensuring inclusivity and clarity of outcomes.
